Alois Ruf has created a workshop which was engaged in maintenance of passenger cars under the name "AUTO-RUF" in the commune of Pfaffenhauzen in the year 1939.

In the 60 's, first began pressing tune and obsolete car brand Porsche, mainly increased engine power. Prior to 1975 were extremely firm, a product of racing cars that could not be used in road traffic.

Since 1981, the company has received official permission to be named automobile producer and has become a trademark of RUFUS.
