The MOD, which adds to the GTA 4 is a bit similar to GTA 5 system to shelter from the police. Now you need not leave the red circle and just hiding from the eyes of the police, that they can not see physically.

Time to hide:
1 Star Search: 20 seconds
2 star search: 30 seconds
3 star search: 45 seconds
4 star search: 60 seconds
5 Star Search: 90 seconds
6 wanted stars: 120 seconds, the timer will be displayed on the screen.
