LIAZ-677 began to design in the year 1960. This model was supposed to replace the buses Liaz-158V Likinskim automobile, which were issued prior to this. The first prototype of the new bus was prepared November 6, 1962 Goda.
In 1963, the prototype was demonstrated at the State Commission on automation and mechanization in the USSR. The Commission gave a positive assessment. Another prototype was released, and the following year new buses were tested in the region of Sochi, and in 1965, the buses headed to a test run on the route Moscow – Kharkiv – Novorossiysk – Sochi-Tbilisi-Yerevan-Moscow, Ordzhonikidze. And laboratory tests were carried out the buses.
In the year 1967 began production of pilot batches of new bus and the next spring — mass production.
The year 1978 was a modernized version of the bus 677М LIAZ. The new modification was different: trim Interior and large number of seats (27). The bus got deforsirovannyj engine (176 against the previous 200 PS) worked on "national" petrol a-76 and the newly designed brake system; removed and finished poorly by designers èlektropnevmatičeskaâ passenger door opening system. After the year 2000 in many cities of LIAZ-677М started early phased out as obsolete, inefficient and not suitable for the installation of automated control systems.
