Designed for destruction of tactical nuclear means artillery and mortar batteries, tanks and other armoured vehicles, anti-tank weapons, manpower, air defence and missile control room, as well as destroying field fortifications and prevent enemy reserves deep in the manoeuvres of his defense.
Can fire on observed and otherwise unmonitored purposes with closed positions direct and indirect fire, including work in mountain conditions. The weapon used by both shots of boeukladki and continuously with soil, no loss in rate of fire (7-8 rounds/min).
In 1989, new assault tank entered service artillery regiments motorized rifle and tank divisions from the Soviet army under the designation 2s19 "Msta-s" (since-unlike the self-propelled, towed guns 2a65 "Msta-b"). The first time was exhibited at the Paris air show in Zhukovsky in August 1992.
